Switzerland faces bitter blow before World Cup Round of 16
Against Colombia, the Swiss must do without a key player. Further players also threaten to miss out.
Ahead of the World Cup Round of 16 match against Colombia (from 10 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>), there is bad news for Switzerland.
As reported by "Blick", key player Johan Manzambi is expected to miss the game. The association had already announced on Monday that in addition to the long-injured Michel Aebischer and Luca Jaquez, Ruben Vargas, Djibril Sow, and Manzambi are also doubtful for the Round of 16 after ending their final training session early.
The latter, who has already contributed three goals and two assists at the World Cup, is definitively unavailable according to the report. The Freiburg player is said to have injured his knee, but an MRI scan reportedly did not confirm the worst fears.
