England fears for key player ahead of World Cup quarter-final
The "Three Lions" will face Erling Haaland and Norway on Saturday. England coach Thomas Tuchel could have to do without one of his most important players.
Ahead of the World Cup quarter-final against Norway (Saturday, from 11 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>), England is worried about midfield star Declan Rice.
The 27-year-old Arsenal FC professional has contracted an infection and has therefore already missed two training sessions in a row. Additionally, he is suffering from complaints in his hamstring and lower back.
To prevent contagion within the team, Rice has been preventatively isolated from the rest of the squad.
According to information from the national team's inner circle, however, officials assume that the infection is now under control and that playing in the quarter-finals remains possible. The decision is likely to be made quite at short notice.
Quansah and Henderson out
It is already confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will have to do without injured veteran Jordan Henderson and centre-back Jarell Quansah in the round of the last eight.
The latter had received a red card for serious foul play in the round of 16 against Mexico and was suspended for two games (More info >>>).
