Official! Former Salzburg player leaves Liverpool for good
His loan to Salzburg was followed by another unsuccessful loan spell in Spain. Now the midfielder returns to his formative club.
Stefan Bajcetic arrived at Anfield Road in winter 2021 from the Celta Vigo youth academy as a highly-touted prospect, and now he returns to his formative club.
Under Jürgen Klopp, the defensive midfielder made his debut for the "Reds" in the Premier League during the 2022/23 season, followed by appearances in the UEFA Champions League, the EFL Cup, and the FA Cup. However, the Spaniard was unable to establish himself permanently at Liverpool FC.
Lijnders brought him to Salzburg
Subsequently, Pepijn Lijnders brought him to Salzburg on loan, where he was unable to fulfill his full potential, much like his most recent loan spell at UD Las Palmas.
With his permanent transfer to Celta Vigo, where he played in the youth ranks between 2013 and 2021, his chapter at Liverpool FC now definitively comes to an end.
His formative club is reportedly paying 1.5 million euros plus bonuses for the services of the 21-year-old Spaniard. At the La Liga club, he will be handed a contract until 2029.
