FC Barcelona is reportedly securing one of Germany's biggest talents of his age group. As transfer insider Florian Plettenberg reports, Mikael Baza is moving from Hamburger SV to the Catalans.

An agreement is reportedly already in place between Barcelona, HSV and the player. The 16-year-old is scheduled for a medical check on Tuesday. Baza is set to sign a contract until 2029. No information is yet available about a possible transfer fee.

Cousin of Jonathan Tah

The transfer is also drawing attention due to the family connection: Baza is the cousin of Bayern center-back Jonathan Tah. Like his 30-year-old relative, the teenager also plays in central defense.

At Barca, Baza is initially expected to play for the second team, Barca Atletic, where he will be carefully introduced to senior football. Long-term, he is expected to make the leap to the first team.

Most recently with HSV's U19

Last season, Baza played for HSV's U17 team. In 16 appearances, the center-back scored four goals. He recently already made the step up to the Hamburg-based club's U19 team.

The teenager also made eleven international appearances for the German U16 national team.

Now, the young talent is set to transfer to one of the biggest clubs in the world.
