Cologne on the brink of transfer coup: English top talent inbound

1. FC Köln is reportedly on the verge of a transfer coup.

According to consistent media reports, the loan deal for Mikey Moore from Tottenham Hotspur has been finalized. The 19-year-old Englishman is set to join the "Effzeh" for one season; a purchase option is not part of the deal.

Moore is expected to travel to Cologne on Monday to undergo the obligatory medical check.

Tottenham Gem for the "Effzeh"

Moore is considered a big talent in England and comes from Tottenham's youth academy. Last season, the winger was on loan at Glasgow Rangers.

For the Scots, Moore featured in 47 competitive matches and accumulated eleven goal contributions.

The youngster also caught attention during pre-season and at the start of the Spurs' campaign. Under coach Roberto De Zerbi, he featured in all three competitive matches so far, starting two of them.

Star Performer in the League Cup

In the EFL Cup against Charlton, Moore even became Man of the Match with a goal and an assist. He was only substituted on in the closing stages of Saturday's 0-2 defeat against Newcastle.

All the more surprising, then, is the London club's decision to still loan out their top talent to Cologne.

Moore Immediately Cologne's Second Most Valuable Player

For Cologne, the signing would be a notable reinforcement for the right wing.

Moore's market value is estimated at 18 million Euros. This would immediately make him the second most valuable player in the Cologne squad – only Said El Mala is significantly ahead of him with 45 million Euros.

The "Billy Goats" started the 2026/27 season well, securing a home victory against Christian Ilzer's Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga opener.
