Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly on the verge of a new record transfer.

According to consistent media reports, Guela Doue is moving from Racing Strasbourg to the "Werkself". Including bonus payments, 37.5 million euros are reportedly to be paid for the 23-year-old right-back.

This would make Doue the most expensive signing in Leverkusen's club history. So far, Malik Tillman and Jarell Quansah held this record. The "Werkself" reportedly paid 35 million euros each for both in 2025.

Doue is reportedly already traveling from Strasbourg to Leverkusen to complete the obligatory medical check.

Brother of PSG Star Désiré

The new signing is also likely to receive special attention due to his surname.

Guela Doue is the older brother of Désiré Doue, who has developed into one of the big young stars in European football at Paris Saint-Germain.

While Désiré Doue, however, creates a stir in attack, his brother Guela is at home on the right side of defense.

Attacking Right-Back

With Doue, Leverkusen is filling a squad gap on the right side of defense.

Since his move to Strasbourg, the Ivorian has played in 69 competitive matches and also impressed offensively. The right-back has recorded three goals and nine assists.

His performances also made Doue interesting for the Ivory Coast national team. Unlike his brother Désiré Doue, the 23-year-old is an Ivorian, not a French, international.

At the 2026 World Cup, Doue played in all four of Ivory Coast's matches.
