Woltemade On The Verge Of Newcastle Exit? Several Top Clubs Keen
Nick Woltemade could leave Newcastle United before the end of the transfer window. In addition to BVB, two Italian top clubs are also interested.
Nick Woltemade's adventure at Newcastle United could come to an end after just over a year. The 24-year-old German has recently fallen down the pecking order under new coach Matthias Jaissle at the "Magpies".
In the first two Premier League games of the new season, Woltemade only managed 19 minutes of action. Former Salzburg coach Jaissle does not currently seem to be counting on the forward.
Woltemade is therefore reportedly seeking a move. A return to the German Bundesliga recently appeared to be an option.
Top Clubs Show Interest
After Borussia Dortmund's new signing Giannis Konstantelias suffered an ACL tear in the Bundesliga opener against HSV, Woltemade was linked with BVB. The Dortmund club is looking for an attacking replacement for the Greek.
However, another door could now open for the 24-year-old. According to "Sky Sport Italia", both SSC Napoli and Juventus Turin are interested in Woltemade. Both clubs are reportedly considering a loan move for the German.
However, a transfer to Juventus is linked to another player: Woltemade is only expected to become an option for the "Old Lady" if Jonathan David still leaves the club.
Zirkzee Preferred Solution For Juventus
In addition, Juventus is reportedly working on a deal for Joshua Zirkzee. According to the report, the former Bayern striker is considered the Turin club's preferred solution for their attack.
Woltemade would therefore only be the B-option. Nevertheless, an attractive opportunity in Serie A could arise for the German in the short term.
High Expectations Not Met So Far
Newcastle had only pried Woltemade away from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2025 for a hefty 75 million euros. However, the attacker has only partially met the high expectations in England so far.
He has scored eleven goals in 53 competitive matches for the "Magpies". His current contract runs until 2031, which makes a permanent departure this summer rather unlikely. A loan deal would be the more realistic option for all parties involved.
Woltemade's current market value is estimated at 55 million euros.
