He rejected a top German club. Instead, the former Seleção player is now signing in France.
AS Monaco has unveiled Filipe Luis as their new coach.
As the Monegasques officially announced on Monday, the Brazilian (40) takes over the head coach position with immediate effect, signing a contract until summer 2028.
Luis, who played for clubs including Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, and the Brazilian national team, previously held the position at his beloved club Flamengo.
Response to a historically weak season
From September 2024, in his role as head coach, he achieved an average of 2.10 points per game in 100 matches, additionally winning eight titles (including the Brazilian championship and the Copa Libertadores).
Previously, Sebastien Pocognoli, Adi Hütter's successor, had been dismissed after approximately nine months. The Belgian led the prestigious club to a historically weak seventh place in Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Hütter, from Vorarlberg, was unveiled as the new head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt.
