Maverick Viñales appears to be on the verge of leaving MotoGP.

The KTM Tech3 rider stated at the Sachsenring that he could imagine an exit after the current season and feels "burnt out" by the MotoGP circus.

Viñales Sees Breach of Trust

The primary trigger for this is the dispute over his future at KTM.

Viñales had long been considered a candidate for the 2027 factory team before the manufacturer instead signed Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Spaniard is particularly upset that he initially learned about this from the media.

KTM did subsequently offer him a new contract, which he signed despite the unfavorable terms for him. However, two weeks later, he was informed that this contract was invalid.

Viñales describes this procedure as a breach of trust and unprofessional.

Stay Virtually Ruled Out

The 31-year-old made it clear that staying with KTM is virtually out of the question for him. He left it open whether he would continue his career with another MotoGP manufacturer.

He is currently not looking for a new team or a new contract. Instead, he wishes for "a long vacation" and could imagine races outside of MotoGP in the future – such as the Suzuka 8 Hours.

"I believe this world has completely burnt me out at the moment. I don't think I will continue," said Viñales.

Consequential Crash at Sachsenring

Exactly one year ago at the Sachsenring, during qualifying for the German Grand Prix, the Spaniard suffered a severe high-side crash on a wet track, dislocating his shoulder and also suffering a fracture.

The small riding error in the rain likely cost him not only the chance to be the first MotoGP rider to win for four different manufacturers, but possibly also his career in the premier class.

To this day, Viñales has not fully recovered from this injury, having only been able to compete in eleven races and collecting ten championship points.
