KTM has confirmed the first of four riders for the 2027 MotoGP season.

Alex Marquez will switch from Gresini-Ducati to the Mattighofen-based manufacturer's factory team, signing a multi-year contract.

Marc Marquez's younger brother is the reigning vice-world champion in motorcycle racing's premier class, and has also won the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships in his career. The Spaniard previously rode for KTM in Moto3, securing his first Grand Prix victory in 2013.

The 30-year-old moved up to MotoGP in 2020, has started 116 races to date, and claimed four victories. Since 2023, Marquez has been riding for the Ducati satellite team Gresini, and last year he was only beaten by his brother in the fight for the world title.

Exceptional Talent

Motorsport Director Pit Beirer: "We are extremely proud and happy to have secured an exceptional talent like Alex Marquez – the 2025 vice-world champion – for our project."

"Alex brings not only outstanding skill and racing intelligence, but also determination and a winning mentality that perfectly matches our DNA," says the German.

Together, from 2027, a clear goal will be pursued: "To take the KTM RC16 to the next level and compete right at the front in MotoGP."
