Max Verstappen was just a few laps away from his second consecutive podium in Silverstone.

A favorable race progression brought the four-time world champion up to third place after a disappointing qualifying session, but a problem with his rear wing led to a fateful excursion into the gravel trap and an abrupt end to his race.

The frustrated four-time world champion radioed: "I'm stuck. F*** this car, f***! Unbelievable. F*** this."

Understanding for Outburst of Anger

Team Principal Laurent Mekies shows understanding for Verstappen's outburst of anger, speaking to "Motorsport.com".

"He has every right not to be happy about it. It's extremely unpleasant for drivers when their car lets them down in high-speed corners in two consecutive races, even if for two different reasons," the Frenchman empathizes.

Problem Should Not Recur

The Dutchman had already gone off track during qualifying in Spielberg when his rear wing had not fully closed. Although it wasn't exactly the same problem, Verstappen states: "That obviously cannot be."

Mekies: "For us as a group, on a much smaller scale, it is also extremely unpleasant to send our drivers into the gravel. So yes, he has every right to be unhappy."

The Team Principal emphasizes: "I have no doubt that the team will do everything necessary to ensure this does not happen again, even if we didn't manage to prevent it today. We are taking this as seriously as possible."
