Domenicali Confirms: Postponed Race to Be Rescheduled
One of the two races in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, postponed in April, could be rescheduled for the autumn.
Formula 1 is working to reschedule one of the races postponed in April for later this year.
This was confirmed by Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali to Sky: "I hope that we find all the necessary conditions – the safety of our people is, of course, the top priority – so that we can travel there."
Both the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Bahrain race were cancelled due to the conflict between Iran and the USA. Following the signing of the ceasefire, one of the two Grands Prix could now be held later in the year.
Decision to be Made Before the Summer Break
Due to the packed racing calendar, only a slot in early October, between the races in Azerbaijan and Singapore, is likely to be considered.
A decision on this is expected in the coming weeks: "I think if there is a possible opportunity to reschedule one of the races that we haven't run, we must make this decision before the summer break," says Domenicali.
Uncertainty Also Surrounding Races at Season's End
Uncertainty also surrounds the last two races at the end of the year in Doha (QAT, 29.11.) and Abu Dhabi (UAE, 06.12.).
"It is the duty of a good organiser or promoter to ensure that plans are in place," says the F1 CEO, who adds: "As for the end of the year, this plan is in place for us, the decision must be made by mid-September."
