Brace from Thalissinho fires Bregenz to victory against Kapfenberg
After a clear opening defeat against Wacker Innsbruck, the Vorarlberg side secures a home win against Kapfenberg on the second matchday.
After a 0-5 thrashing against Wacker Innsbruck in their Second Division opener, SW Bregenz defeated Kapfenberger SV 3-2 in Round Two of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga.
Substitute Thalissinho, who scored a brace, crowned himself the match-winner for Bregenz.
The early stages saw an lively back-and-forth. Peter Aizawa was on hand to deny a double chance for KSV (6').
At the other end, Bregenz striker Lasean Sealey headed towards goal, with Kapfenberg keeper Vinko Colic gathering the ball at the second attempt (7'). Then, after a corner, the Styrians (Kapfenberg) had attempts on goal, both of which were blocked (8').
Bregenz subsequently posed a threat from set pieces. Initially, defender Henrique Cayres Torelli missed a shot after a free-kick delivery (14'). A few minutes later, he headed home another cross from Lars Nussbaumer to give his side a 1-0 lead (19').
The Vorarlberg side then failed to extend their lead to 2-0, despite enjoying a period of dominance, particularly before the break.
Brace from Thalissinho
Kapfenberg thus remained in the game and equalized shortly after the restart. The ball slipped through to substitute Jose-Andrei Rostas, who slotted it in for 1-1 (54').
Aizawa got his fingertips to a good KSV long-range shot, deflecting the ball over the crossbar (62').
Ultimately, super-sub Thalison de Sousa Oliveira, known as "Thalissinho", was responsible for Bregenz's home win. The Brazilian scored a brace within three minutes (83', 86').
Rostas also scored a second time, but his goal for 2-3 merely flattered the scoreline (90'+5). For the Styrians, this was their second league defeat after losing 0-4 to FC Liefering.
