Goal fest! Sturm II surprisingly defeats FAC

SK Sturm Graz II secured a 4-2 victory against FAC in Round 2 of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, claiming their first win of the new season. They had started with a 0-4 defeat against Vienna.

The match got off to a quick start. After a corner kick in the fourth minute, Roche headed the ball into the middle to Maierhofer, who bundled it over the line with his body.

The Floridsdorfer's response was not long in coming. Piskule unleashed a powerful shot from 20 meters, which goalkeeper Lorenz managed to tip onto the crossbar (13.).

Penalty drama in Gleisdorf

Wild minutes followed in the Graz penalty area.

Lazarre brought Geris down, leading the referee to award a penalty. Piskule confidently converted (20./P). Shortly after, there was another spot-kick. This time, Roche was the culprit. Piskule again slotted it home, making it 2-1 (24./P).

Just before halftime, the young Graz team equalised. It was Maierhofer again – and once more the goal came from a corner kick (45 +2). Löcker delivered the set piece perfectly into the middle, and the 19-year-old headed it in.

Set pieces decide

In the 62nd minute, the "Schwoazn" regained the lead.

Julian Halwachs was awarded a free-kick just outside the penalty area. He struck the ball low into the goalkeeper's corner, beating Paul Pius Scharner. The FAC goalkeeper didn't look good, as the ball slipped through his arms.

In a lively match, FAC pushed for an equaliser. Once again, it was the Slovenian Piskule who hit the post with a thunderous strike from distance (79.).

The decisive goal came in the 88th minute. The third goal from a corner kick was again assisted by Roche and this time scored by Barne Pernot.
