Scott Kosmachuk will also play for the Vienna Capitals next season.

The 32-year-old Canadian has extended his contract and will continue to play for the Viennese in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Capitals announced this on Tuesday.

Kosmachuk moved to the federal capital in December 2025, but his first season was hampered by a persistent lower-body injury.

As a result, the forward only appeared in 13 games, scoring two goals and seven assists.

"Looking forward to a fresh start"

"I am extremely looking forward to the upcoming season in Vienna. Last season, due to the injury, I already played my last competitive game on January 30," said Kosmachuk.

"It was difficult for me that I couldn't help the team on the ice. All the more I am looking forward to a fresh start in the upcoming season in Vienna," he adds.

"Expect him hungry and top-fit"

"Last season was suboptimal for Scott due to his lower-body injury. He has proven what he can do in the past, not only in our league. We want to see that from him with us in Vienna next season," says Christian Dolezal, Sports Director of the Vienna Capitals.

"We expect Scott to be hungry and in top physical condition when preparations begin in early August," he adds.

Champion with Red Bull Salzburg

Before his move to Vienna, Kosmachuk was under contract with the Slovakian first-division club Vlci Žilina, after winning the championship title in the ICE Hockey League with EC Red Bull Salzburg the season before.

For Salzburg, he scored 27 points in 26 regular season games.

Eight NHL Appearances

In addition to stints in the KHL with Lada Togliatti and in Finland with TPS, the right-handed shot also played for VSV between 2020 and 2022, where he collected an impressive 109 points in 106 games. Before that, he played for Augsburg in the DEL, among other teams.

Before his move to Europe, Kosmachuk was active in North America for several years. Between 2014 and 2019, the 32-year-old played more than 320 games in the AHL and also made eight appearances in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets in the 2015/16 season.
