FIFA WM 2026
Germany's World Cup exit in the round of 32 against Paraguay is the latest addition to a list of catastrophic World Cup results.
After two group stage exits in 2018 and 2022, the DFB team once again failed to qualify for the World Cup round of 16.
Consequently, criticism has been pouring in from all sides in recent days. Toni Kroos is now another former world-class player who doesn't mince words about the German team's performance.
"World-Class Players Decide the World Cup"
In his TikTok show "Kroos & Kroos: The World Cup Under the Microscope," the 2014 World Champion now questions the quality of the players: "We currently don't have a single world-class player."
At the same time, he adds: "We have players with world-class potential. But that doesn't mean they are world-class. World-class players are currently deciding all the World Cup matches. And they are at the top of the scorers' list, where world-class players belong. We don't have a single one, and we have to be honest about that."
Kroos, who was part of the 2018 debacle himself, also misses the feeling that the team could shift up a gear at any time. This feeling was always present during his playing days.
