Klopp Deal: DFB Does Not Have to Pay Transfer Fee to Red Bull
In return, the association is said to make some other concessions to the beverage manufacturer.
It is likely only a matter of time before Jürgen Klopp is officially presented as the head coach of the German national team.
According to "Bild", all essential points of the collaboration have been discussed, but Klopp is currently still employed by Red Bull.
And although the former Liverpool coach is under contract with the Austrian beverage group as Head of Global Soccer until 2029, the DFB is reportedly not required to pay a transfer fee for Klopp.
Other Concessions
However, Red Bull does not want to let Klopp go entirely without compensation.
According to the German tabloid, Klopp is to continue working as a brand ambassador for the "Red Bulls", as his advertising value is higher than a potential transfer fee.
Furthermore, potential assistant coach Zsolt Löw is not expected to move to the DFB. He will likely remain as Head of Soccer Development at Red Bull.
However, his long-time assistants Peter Krawietz (also at Red Bull) and Pep Lijnders (most recently Man City, previously Salzburg coach) are expected to follow Klopp.
Four-Year Contract
According to "Bild", the contract between the DFB and Klopp is reportedly already quite clearly negotiated.
Accordingly, the 59-year-old will receive a four-year contract extending until after the 2030 World Cup. His salary is expected to be marginally less than Julian Nagelsmann's previously.
