Galatasaray player Ismail Jakobs is ending his career with the Senegalese national team at just 27 years old.

The defender intends to dedicate his time and energy to his club in Istanbul and his family in the future.

"Today, it's time to open a new chapter. I want to focus on my club career and spend more valuable time for myself and my family. Because time is precious, and some moments never return," Jakobs wrote in his Instagram post.

German U21 European Champion

The Cologne-born defender opted for a change of national association after winning the U21 European Championship with Germany in 2021 and subsequently played for Senegal.

Jakobs featured in two World Cups and made a total of 33 international appearances for the African nation.

"My time on the pitch with Senegal is coming to an end, but my connection to this country will never fade. Senegal has given me an enormous amount, and I hope that in the future I can give back some of what it has given me - both on and off the football pitch," said the left-back.
