Former Vienna Coach Joins Partizan Belgrade
The 39-year-old most recently worked in Turkey and is now moving to the Serbian top club. He will once again serve as assistant coach to Aleksandar Stanojevic there.
New role for Aleksandar Gitsov!
The former head coach of Vienna and SKN St. Pölten is moving to the Super Liga Srbije and signing a contract with top club Partizan Belgrade.
At the capital club, he will serve as assistant coach to Aleksandar Stanojević.
A Winning Start
Gitsov was still active with Stanojevic at Karagümrük in Turkey until a few days ago. "I'm looking forward to working alongside Aleksandar Stanojević again. Partizan Belgrade, like my previous club CSKA Sofia, is a top club with high expectations," Gitsov told LAOLA1.
Partizan's start to the season was very mixed. The club only secured three wins from their first twelve games. Under the new duo, they immediately achieved their first victory away at Radnicki.
This moves the traditional club up to tenth place in the table. Austrian forward Erik Kojzek (20) also plays for the Serbian club.
"We are aware of the responsibility and want to lead the team out of this difficult situation. With the win against Radnički Niš, we have taken an important first step," said Gitsov.
Years of Work in Austria
The 39-year-old Viennese had previously been a coach in Austria for Vienna and SKN St. Pölten. He also worked for FAC for years, serving as assistant coach, among other roles, to current Schalke coach Miron Muslic.
Abroad, in addition to Karagümrük, Gitsov also worked as assistant coach to Nestor El Maestro at CSKA Sofia from July 2023 to April 2024.
