FC Bayern Munich advances to the DFB-Pokal Round of 16 on Wednesday evening with a 6-1 home victory against second-division side 1. FC Magdeburg.

Michael Olise scores a brace (10th, 50th minute), while summer signing Saibari (21st), as well as Davies (70th), Brown (73rd) and Daiber (90th+4) also get on the scoresheet. Magdeburg pull one back through Zukowski to equalize temporarily (15th minute).

There was good news for Bayern even before the match: coach Vincent Kompany was allowed to leave the hospital after his collapse (all info >>>).

Austrian international Konrad Laimer starts against 1. FCM and plays until the 67th minute.

Olise and Saibari impress

Bayern set the tone early. Olise (7th minute) and Saibari (9th minute), who is deployed as a replacement for Ballon d'Or winner Kane at the top of the attack, register their first shots.

After ten minutes, the early opener for Munich: Saibari breaks through and unselfishly lays it off for Olise, who easily slots home for 1-0 (10th minute).

However, the second-division side equalizes spectacularly five minutes later. After a Laimer turnover in Magdeburg's penalty area, the visitors launch an attack. Zukowski's shot then dips unstoppably into the Bayern goal (15th minute). The ball is deflected by Ito, giving goalkeeper Urbig no chance.

Shortly before halftime, the underdog narrowly misses another equalizer. Atik's shot hits the left post (45th+2).

Olise provides the decisive goal

Only a few minutes into the second half, Munich secure the decisive goal. Davies is held back by the arm in the penalty area, and the referee points to the spot. Olise coolly converts from the penalty spot with a chip for 3-1 (50th minute).

In the 70th minute, Davies makes it 4-1 after good build-up play from Karl. Three minutes later, Brown scores for 5-1 (73rd minute). Substitute Daiber secures the 6-1 final score (90th+4).
