In the 2nd round of the DFB-Pokal, Borussia Dortmund knock out Werder Bremen 3:2 on Tuesday evening. ÖFB international Marcel Sabitzer scores the winning goal for the hosts in stoppage time.

Dortmund start the match with a bang. After a cross from Beier, Ryerson lays it off in the middle to Guirassy, and the striker converts for an early 1-0 lead (6th minute).

Shortly thereafter, ÖFB international Carney Chukwuemeka makes his appearance. Bellingham lays a cross off perfectly, and Chukwuemeka strikes the ball directly, finishing into the bottom left corner for 2-0 (17th minute).

Grüll with Chances to Equalize

When it gets dangerous for Bremen, it's from the left. Grüll has two opportunities (28th/33rd minute), but they are mostly long-range shots that Kobel can save.

Then comes the big Füllkrug show in the second half. Schmetgens is brought down in the penalty area by Ryerson, and Füllkrug confidently converts the penalty to make it 1-2 (65th minute).

Just three minutes and 14 seconds later, Füllkrug embarks on a superb solo run. He nutmegs Anton, drives the ball 20 meters towards the goal, and then finishes unstoppably into the far corner to make it 2-2 (68th minute).

Goal with Impact

After that, nervousness was palpable in both teams; neither wanted to risk too much to avoid conceding the decisive goal.

In stoppage time, the Black and Yellow get another free-kick from 20 meters out. Sabitzer steps up and smashes the ball into the top corner for 3-2 (90+3rd minute).

For Bremen, Grüll played until the 59th minute, while Friedl played the full match. For BVB, Chukwuemeka was substituted in the 71st minute, with Sabitzer coming on in his place.
