VfL Bochum stuns FSV Mainz 05 in the 2nd round of the DFB-Pokal, advancing 2-0 to the round of 16. Austrian players Stefan Posch, Phillipp Mwene (Mainz 05), and Michael Steinwender (VfL Bochum) were on the pitch for the entire match.

In a balanced first half, both teams had their chances. After a sharp cross from Holtmann, Mainz keeper Schwolow cleared the ball before the onrushing Rasmussen (14.).

At the other end, Steinwender was there before Posch and cleared the ball out of the danger zone (18.). The visitors still had two half-chances in the first half, but it remained 0-0.

After the restart, the hosts got off to a flying start: Taz cleverly let a through ball from Holtmann pass to Rasmussen in the center, who turned towards goal and scored the opener (46.).

Mainz subsequently tried to build up their crossing game, but VfL Bochum scored again. Hofmann finished off a counter-attack involving Ouro-Tagba and Steuckers to make it the 2-0 final score. Thus, the second-division team with Austrian player Michael Steinwender is through to the next round.

Frankfurt Establishes Clear Conditions in Second Half

In the parallel match, Adi Hütter celebrated a 3-1 victory with Eintracht Frankfurt over HSV. After a goalless first half, the Hessians increased the tempo and took a 1-0 lead with Koch's header (56.).

Burkhardt with a low shot (71.) and Ebnoutalib (75.) after a clever turn in the penalty area scored Frankfurt's other goals.

Moffi's immediate consolation goal, who reacted quickest and scored after a deflected shot from ex-Salzburg player Daka, was nothing more than cosmetic for the Hamburg side.
