Bayern coach Vincent Kompany remains in hospital after collapsing last Friday. The Belgian had collapsed while observing the training of the Munich second team.

Assistant coach Aaron Danks has since taken over Kompany's duties and spoke to the press ahead of Bayern's second-round cup match against 1. FC Magdeburg (Wednesday from 8:45 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).

The Englishman visited Kompany in hospital yesterday, Monday, and said: "He's in good spirits. It looks like it's getting better every day."

"He's getting all the time he needs to recover"

Currently, there are no predictions yet as to when the 40-year-old will return to the sidelines.

"He is very calm and is getting all the time he needs to recover," said assistant coach Danks. Kompany is expected to be out for the next few weeks and will use the November international break for recovery.

Danks: "We had good conversations, but they had nothing to do with football or tactics. He asked how we were doing."

The 43-year-old Englishman is currently taking on a bit more responsibility. "I now have to speak a lot more at press conferences. But otherwise, not much has changed. We analyze the opponent, prepare training, and try to collectively fill the gaps Vincent has left for the moment."

Neuer and Musiala Still Out

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and attacking player Jamal Musiala are also currently absent – the match against Magdeburg comes too soon for both. Defender Minjae Kim and midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic are somewhat closer to a comeback.

Newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane will rejoin the squad on Tuesday afternoon after the award ceremony in London. "I followed the ceremony. It's fantastic for him. He will train this afternoon and then be available tomorrow as well," said Danks.

Joshua Kimmich is expected to return later in the week. The 31-year-old missed Bayern's last two matches due to a bereavement.
