Muslic after Cup Exit: "The coming weeks will be very tough"

Things are currently anything but smooth for Schalke 04. After a string of poor results in the league, they have now been eliminated from the Cup by a second-division team.

For the sixth time in a row, the DFB-Pokal second round marks the end of the road for Schalke 04!

The German Bundesliga club suffered a bitter 0:2 defeat away to second-division side Dynamo Dresden.

Schalke's Form Crisis

Schalke coach Miron Muslic pinpointed the problem after the exit, telling "WAZ": "We are very disappointed, we have to be very self-critical. The coming weeks will be very tough, but we will get through this."

Since the extended international break, things have been going wrong for the "Royal Blues". In the league, they suffered two defeats and a goalless draw in Cologne. In the table, they are only in the relegation playoff spot before Saturday's clash with RB Leipzig.

Offensive Struggles

In addition to major injury concerns, the toothless offense is particularly worrying. In seven league matches, Muslic's eleven have scored only four goals.

"I have to defend the strikers. It's a collective task for the team," said Muslic.

Defensively, however, things look significantly better: With only seven goals conceded, they have the third-fewest after Bayern and Dortmund.
