Return to Barcelona: Sarabia takes over at Espanyol

RCD Espanyol Barcelona has a new head coach!

Eder Sarabia takes over the Catalans, returning to the city where he worked as an assistant coach for Quique Setien at FC Barcelona in 2020.

Besides FC Barcelona, the Spaniard also served as an assistant coach at UD Las Palmas and Betis Sevilla.

Taking Over in Relegation Battle

Most recently, the 46-year-old gained experience as head coach at FC Andorra and FC Elche. Sarabia achieved promotion with both teams – with Andorra to the second division, and with Elche to the top flight.

Now, the Spaniard is tasked with saving Espanyol Barcelona from relegation. The Catalans are currently in 18th place with eight points from ten games.

The Spaniard signs a contract with Espanyol until summer 2028.
