Confirmed! Bayern keeper Alexander Nübel moves to Turkey
The German record champion finds a buyer for the DFB keeper. The 29-year-old joins a Turkish top club.
Alexander Nübel has found a new club.
The goalkeeper is moving from FC Bayern to Turkish top club Beşiktaş Istanbul. The German record champion announced this on Wednesday evening.
The 29-year-old joined Munich from FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 and most recently played on loan for VfB Stuttgart.
Nübel is moving to Istanbul for a transfer fee of 6.5 million euros, which can increase to 11.5 million euros through bonuses. There he signs a contract until 2029.
Only Four Appearances for FC Bayern
The Munich club thus resolves one of their biggest misunderstandings in recent transfer history. Although the Paderborn native was under contract with FC Bayern for a total of six years, he only made four appearances for the Munich side.
In the 2020/21 season, Nübel played one match each in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, as well as two games in the Champions League.
Subsequently, the goalkeeper gained significantly more match practice at AS Monaco and VfB Stuttgart.
Most Recently Played in Stuttgart
Especially in Swabia, the DFB keeper developed into a key player: In three years there, Nübel missed only four Bundesliga matches.
A permanent stay at VfB apparently also failed due to the financial conditions – a total package that the Eagles from Istanbul were now able to manage.
