However, it was no good for PSV Eindhoven: The "Boeren" had already taken a 2-1 lead at Twente Enschede, but ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.
PSV started the game better, but the hosts took the lead through Younes Taha after just under a quarter of an hour (14').

But the visitors hit back in the form of Guus Til with a quickfire double (26', 29'), with Wanner providing the assist for the temporary 2-1 lead.
In the second half, Twente was the better team and was rewarded in the closing stages: Wout Weghorst first equalized (79'), and shortly after, Daouda Weidmann turned the game in favor of the hosts (83').
At that point, Wanner was no longer on the pitch: He was substituted in the 80th minute.
