Record Departure: Arsenal Sells Martinelli to Saudi Arabia
After seven years at Arsenal FC, Gabriel Martinelli moves on to the Saudi Pro League, becoming a record departure for the Gunners.
Gabriel Martinelli is leaving Arsenal FC.
After seven years with the London club, with whom he won the FA Cup (2020), the FA Community Shield (2023), and the Premier League title last year, the Brazilian international is joining Al-Hilal.
The winger thus becomes a record departure for the Gunners: The Saudi capital club is paying 70 million euros for the services of the 25-year-old.
No Future Under Arteta
Arsenal has so far received its highest transfer fee for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, for whom Liverpool FC paid 38 million euros in 2017.
Martinelli, who made 278 appearances for the Londoners, scoring 62 goals and providing 36 assists, no longer plays a role under coach Mikel Arteta this season. The Gunners have already found a successor in Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.
