Edin Dzeko announces retirement
The 40-year-old has signed a one-year contract with Schalke 04 for the Bundesliga. He will bid farewell to the international stage in the autumn.
Edin Dzeko will end his career with the Bosnian national team.
In an emotional Instagram post, Dzeko writes: "On October 2nd against Sweden, I will play my next and final game for our national team."
The veteran star is Bosnia's record appearance maker and record goal scorer: In 151 international matches, the former Man City, Roma, and Inter striker scored 73 goals.
The 40-year-old still has one year left on his contract with promoted club Schalke 04. Last season, Dzeko helped the "Knappen" (miners), led by Austrian coach Miron Muslic, win the championship title.
