In their search for defensive reinforcement, FC Red Bull Salzburg reportedly also approached Tobias Paliscak from Slovak Cup winner MSK Zilina.

According to Fabrizio Romano, two Italian clubs also made efforts to sign the 18-year-old centre-back.

However, as confirmed on Tuesday, the Slovak U21 international will continue his career in the Czech Republic. He signed a contract with his new club, Viktoria Plzen, until 2030. The Europa League participant reportedly paid three million euros for the services of the 18-year-old.

Prospect of playing in the Europa League

With the move to Plzen, he also fulfills his dream of an international league phase. While he was eliminated early with his former club MSK Zilina, the third-placed team in the last Chance-Liga season secured their ticket for the Europa League league phase with an epic comeback against Red Star Belgrade, much to the dismay of Austrian internationals Muhammed Cham and Marko Arnautovic.

Even though he decided against a transfer to Salzburg, he will still play alongside an Austrian in the future: Florian Wiegele, an Austrian international, is the regular goalkeeper at the traditional Czech club.
