For 10 Million! Affengruber close to Premier League move
The centre-back is expected to leave Elche after two years and continue his career on the island.
Austrian international defender David Affengruber is reportedly on the verge of a move to England.
As reported by "AS" from Spain, the 25-year-old is moving from La Liga club Elche to Fulham. The transfer fee is said to be ten million euros. His release clause was reportedly 50 million euros.
Affengruber's contract in Spain would have expired in 2027. The centre-back was also recently linked with second-tier club Southampton and Crystal Palace. Now he is expected to move to West London, where he would meet former Real coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
Two good years at Elche
Affengruber was trained at the Red Bull Academy in Salzburg. In 2024, he won the double with Sturm Graz.
Subsequently, he did not extend his contract with the Graz side and moved to the Spanish second division with Elche at the end of August. There, he quickly established himself in the starting XI and achieved promotion to La Liga with the Spanish club.
Last season, the defender made 36 appearances in the top Spanish league.
Fulham is still without a win in the current Premier League season.
