The Austrian international defender has found a new club and moves to the Premier League.
David Affengruber is moving to the Premier League!
The Austrian international defender is leaving FC Elche and moving to England to FC Fulham. Both clubs announced the transfer on Deadline Day.
According to media reports, the transfer fee is around twelve million euros. Affengruber's contract in Spain would have expired in 2027. At Fulham, he now signs until 2030 with the option for another season.
Two good years at Elche
Affengruber was trained at the Red Bull Academy in Salzburg. In 2024, he won the double with Sturm Graz.
Subsequently, he did not extend his contract with the Graz side and moved to the Spanish second division with Elche at the end of August. There, he quickly established himself in the starting eleven and achieved promotion to La Liga with the Spanish club.
Last season, the defender played 36 matches in the top Spanish league.
Fulham is still without a win in the current Premier League season. A familiar coach awaits there in former Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
Fifth Austrian in the Premier League
Besides midfielder Xaver Schlager at Nottingham Forest, three other Austrian centre-backs are active in the world's wealthiest league: Michael Svoboda (Brighton), Jannik Schuster (Brentford), and Kevin Danso (Sunderland).
