Most Expensive Summer Transfer! Enzo Fernandez Signs for City
With his move to the "Sky Blues", the Argentinian equals Alexander Isak.
It's official: Enzo Fernandez leaves FC Chelsea and joins Manchester City. He signs a contract until 2031 there.
According to "The Athletic", the two clubs agreed on a transfer package amounting to 125 million pounds (around 145 million euros), making the Argentinian midfielder the most expensive player of this summer's transfer window.
He also equals Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker's move from Newcastle to Liverpool a year ago is considered, ex aequo, the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.
The Hub of Chelsea's Midfield
Fernandez has played for Chelsea since 2023. The then-reigning world champion moved from Benfica to West London for 121 million euros.
With Chelsea, the 25-year-old became Conference League winner and Club World Cup champion last year. In total, he made 170 competitive appearances for the "Blues" (31 goals, 30 assists).
Fernandez has made 49 appearances for Argentina's national team so far and became a world champion in 2022.
Ndiaye Arrives from Everton
Also new to the "Sky Blues" is Iliman Ndiaye. The winger joins Manchester City from FC Everton for around 74 million euros. In return, Jack Grealish leaves the club again, moving to Everton on loan.
City has thus spent over 500 million euros in this transfer window for Enzo, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Elliot Anderson, Ndiaye, and youngster Allan.
