Glasner's Former Club Chasing David Affengruber
David Affengruber has reportedly rejected a move to FC Southampton. Nevertheless, a transfer to England could still be on the cards for the Austrian international.
David Affengruber reportedly has several options on the island.
As "Sky" reports, FC Southampton was keen to sign the Austrian international. However, the 25-year-old centre-back decided against a move to the English second-tier club.
Now, a significantly more attractive opportunity could arise for Affengruber. Premier League club Crystal Palace is reportedly showing interest in the Elche player.
Palace Needs a Centre-Back
The London club is playing not only in the Premier League but also in the Europa League this season. Additionally, Palace could become active in the transfer market again following Chadi Riad's injury.
The centre-back suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear during the season opener against Everton and is out long-term. Under new coach Pierre Sage, they also play with a back three – a system in which Affengruber currently plays an important role at Elche.
An Undisputed Starter at Elche
Despite the interest, a transfer is by no means certain. Affengruber enjoys high standing at Elche and is an undisputed starter under coach Martin Anselmi as part of the back three.
Nothing is known yet about a possible transfer fee or specific transfer details. Affengruber's current market value is estimated at around 20 million euros.
