RB Leipzig is loaning midfielder Arthur Vermeeren back to his Belgian homeland, Royal Antwerp.

As reported on Thursday, the loan deal is planned for one season. Most recently, FC Red Bull Salzburg was also considered a possible destination for the 21-year-old (All info >>>).

Squad successfully streamlined

Instead, Vermeeren now returns to the club where he was once developed. In 2024, he left Antwerp and moved to Atletico Madrid for 20 million euros. A year later, Leipzig transferred 20 million euros to Madrid.

With the Saxons, the defensive midfielder made 41 competitive appearances (2 assists).

RBL sporting director Marcel Schäfer's goal was to streamline the squad. On Wednesday, among others, defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu was therefore loaned to Galatasaray Istanbul.
