Top clubs chase former ÖFB player and World Cup breakout star Mahmic
The 21-year-old former Rapid player has attracted the attention of numerous top clubs from England, Italy, and Germany. His current club is demanding a double-digit million-euro sum.
Ermin Mahmic is one of the breakout stars of the 2026 World Cup.
The 21-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who played for the ÖFB in his youth, scored two goals in the group stage and now stands with his country in the round of sixteen.
There, a real test awaits with the USA (Thursday from 2 AM in the LIVE ticker>>>) – Mahmic could be in line for his first starting eleven appearance.
Clubs from England, Italy, and Germany interested
Even though he only came off the bench in his two appearances so far, he has already hinted at his potential multiple times.
Even before the World Cup, the attacking player was on the radar of several European clubs, and his performances have now significantly increased this interest.
As "Sky" reported on Tuesday, clubs from Germany, England, and Italy are reportedly vying for the attacking midfielder, who is currently under contract with Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic.
According to the report, Mahmic is said to be in discussions with German Bundesliga clubs Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz 05, 1. FC Köln, and TSG Hoffenheim.
Slovan Liberec demands ten million Euros
However, a move to Germany could prove difficult, as Slovan Liberec is demanding a transfer fee in the region of around ten million Euros, which is considered too high for Bundesliga clubs, according to "Sky".
Therefore, moves to England or Italy are considered more likely. Lazio Rome, in particular, as well as Champions League participant Como 1907, are said to fancy their chances of a transfer and are reportedly willing to pay the asking price.
Mahmic moved from SV Lafnitz to Liberec in the summer of 2025, where he contributed eight goals and four assists in 30 competitive matches. In his youth, the 21-year-old played for SK Rapid and LASK.
