Spanish World and European Champion makes surprising comeback
The former world-class playmaker returns to the football stage after more than three years of absence. His new club plays in the Hong Kong Premier League.
He won the English championship four times with Manchester City, and secured the European Championship title twice and the World Cup title once with the Spanish national team.
David Silva has won almost everything there is to win in international football. Nevertheless, the now 40-year-old Spaniard is now attempting a surprising comeback.
After a cruciate ligament rupture, the long-serving Manchester City playmaker had actually declared his career over in summer 2023. But now he is interrupting his retirement for his first adventure outside of Europe. Silva is moving to Supreme Sha Tin in the Hong Kong Premier League.
"Absolutely Crazy" Transfer Coup
"Absolutely crazy! We officially announce that legendary Spanish midfielder David Silva has officially joined Supreme Sha Tin," the club announced on social media, expressing its own surprise at the successful transfer coup.
The midfielder is expected to join his new employer in mid-October after completing a medical. The Spanish World and European Champion made the jump to professional football from FC Valencia's youth academy. He experienced his most successful period at Manchester City. For the "Skyblues", he played a total of 436 competitive matches between 2010 and 2020.
