In recent hours, everything pointed to a transfer of Daniel Carvajal to FC Getafe!

The former captain of Real Madrid had actually agreed to a free transfer with the Spanish top-flight club (All Info >>>). Now, Financial Fair Play is likely to thwart the deal.

Salary Too High

On Wednesday morning, Getafe president Angel Torres commented on the matter in the TV show "El Chiringuito": "There's nothing. Everything is off."

According to "Mundo Deportivo," the club has overspent on its salary costs, meaning the league would not permit any further new signings. However, the club is reportedly working on a solution.

Six-Time Champions League Winner

Carvajal has been without a club since his contract expired at Real Madrid in the summer. Previously, he was active for the "Royals" for 13 years, winning the UEFA Champions League six times, among other titles, and even serving as captain for a period.

In total, the right-back played 451 games for Real, scoring 14 goals and assisting 66 others. The 34-year-old also became European Champion with Spain in 2024.
