After Inter Exit: Yann Sommer Has a New Club
The future of the Swiss star goalkeeper has been settled. He is not moving to a top-5 league.
Yann Sommer is moving to Belgium.
The Swiss star goalkeeper is leaving Inter Milan and joining Belgian top-tier club Club Brugge on a free transfer.
Sommer, who is signing a three-year contract with the West Flemish club, is following in the footsteps of Simon Mignolet, who has ended his career.
Will Sommer Play Until 40?
The 94-cap "Nati" goalkeeper reportedly decided against a move to Spain. Ajax Amsterdam was also said to be interested in Sommer.
From the 2023/24 season, the custodian played for Inter, became champion twice with the "Nerazzurri" and reached the Champions League final.
In the years prior, the three-time Footballer of the Year played for FC Basel, FC Vaduz, Grasshoppers Zürich, Borussia Mönchengladbach (2014-2023) and FC Bayern Munich during his professional career.
Upon the expiration of his new contract in Bruges, Sommer would be 40 years old.
