Kerim Alajbegovic has had a meteoric rise in the past season.

In his debut season at FC Red Bull Salzburg, he was not only the top scorer for the Salzburgers, but also secured a place in the Bosnian World Cup squad with his strong performances.

Now, after just one year, Bayer Leverkusen activated the buy-back option and brought the homegrown talent back for eight million euros. However, Alajbegovic reportedly will not play a professional match for the "Werkself" in the near future.

Substantial transfer profit for Leverkusen

As reported by "Corriere dello Sport", the 18-year-old attacking player is on the verge of a transfer to Atalanta Bergamo. According to the report, national team teammate Sead Kolasinac is also said to have convinced him of the move.

The transfer fee is said to amount to 25 million euros plus bonuses. This means the German Bundesliga club can look forward to a substantial transfer profit – the buy-back option was reportedly eight million euros.
