ManUnited close to signing Belgium captain

For Youri Tielemans, the dream of playing for a top club is likely to come true late in his career.

According to a report by "The Athletic", the Belgian is close to a move from Aston Villa to Manchester United. The 29-year-old has already agreed terms with the "Red Devils", according to information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The "Villans" are forced to watch as ManUnited is taking advantage of a release clause in Tielemans' contract and will sign the midfielder for an estimated 41 million euros.

His contract with Aston Villa is dated until summer 2028.

Captained Belgium

Tielemans recently captained the Belgian national team to the World Cup quarter-finals, where they were eliminated against Spain (1:2). The son of a Congolese mother was unable to participate in the last match after getting injured during the warm-up.

In the round of 16, Tielemans was primarily responsible for the 3:2 victory after extra time over Senegal with a brace, after Belgium had been trailing 0:2 late in the final phase.

Replacement ready

Tielemans came through the youth ranks of RSC Anderlecht and was considered a great talent early on.

The right-footed player joined Aston Villa in summer 2023 via AS Monaco and Leicester City. For the reigning Europa League winners, the playmaker has made 134 competitive appearances, scoring ten goals and providing 25 assists.
