Schicker set to offload multi-million flop
The striker is set to move to Turkey on loan – a move that would see sporting director Andreas Schicker offload arguably his biggest transfer flop.
Gift Orban is set to leave TSG Hoffenheim once again. According to "kicker", the 24-year-old Nigerian is on the verge of a move to Turkish promoted side Amed SK Diyarbakir.
According to the report, Hoffenheim has already agreed on a loan deal with the club. Hoffenheim is initially set to receive a loan fee of one million euros, after which a purchase obligation of four million euros will reportedly come into effect.
Schicker's Multi-Million Flop
Hoffenheim's sporting director Andreas Schicker would thus be getting rid of arguably the biggest transfer flop of his tenure. The Austrian had signed Orban from Olympique Lyon in winter 2025 for around nine million euros. However, the attacker never managed to live up to expectations.
Although Orban scored four goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances in the second half of the 2024/25 season, he rarely played a significant role under coach Christian Ilzer. Instead, the Nigerian repeatedly made negative headlines due to his dissatisfaction with his playing time.
His loan spell at Hellas Verona also proved disappointing. With the Italians, Orban was relegated to Serie B, and he also made headlines after an altercation with a fan off the pitch. Now, the striker is expected to seek a fresh start in Turkey.
