FC Bayern announce Neuer diagnosis
Manuel Neuer is out for the time being with a tendon injury in his right foot. FC Bayern have confirmed the diagnosis, while the duration of his absence remains unclear.
Manuel Neuer had to be substituted off due to injury shortly before half-time in Saturday's match against Mainz 05. Teammates and the club had already expressed concern shortly after the final whistle. Now FC Bayern have confirmed the diagnosis.
Neuer out "for the time being"
The 40-year-old goalkeeper suffered a partial tendon tear in his right foot and will be sidelined for Bayern "for the time being". The club did not disclose how long Neuer will be out for.
Jonas Urbig is expected to stand in goal for Bayern once again in the coming weeks.
The former German international goalkeeper suffered the injury while diving to meet a cross from Mainz.
Following a miscommunication with Jonathan Tah, the ball slipped through and ended up in the empty net. However, the goal was ruled out for offside. Neuer remained on the ground in pain and left the pitch shortly afterwards.
