Friedl critical after narrow defeat: "Cowardly football"
Following the defeat against Stuttgart, Werder captain Marco Friedl had strong words. Above all, his team's first-half performance frustrated him.
Austrian international and Werder Bremen captain Marco Friedl was anything but happy following the narrow 1-0 defeat against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday evening.
The 28-year-old was particularly critical of his side's toothless display, as they barely managed to create real scoring opportunities against VfB. In an interview with "Sky", the captain labeled the first-half performance as "cowardly football".
The Austrian was also angered by his team's many mistakes and aimless long balls.

By contrast, teammate and German international Niclas Füllkrug reflected on what they have achieved so far after their first defeat in seven games and declared himself "proud of where we stand."
With 15 points, Bremen currently occupy fifth place in the table.
