Report: Nagelsmann reportedly a coaching candidate at former club
The former national team coach is reportedly on RB Leipzig's radar. Head coach Martin Demichelis is under immense pressure there.
Will Julian Nagelsmann soon return to RB Leipzig?
At least according to a "Sky" report, this scenario is not ruled out at Cottaweg.
The Saxons are reportedly already looking into potential alternatives, should there be an early separation from head coach Martin Demichelis.
The Argentine is already under pressure after just a few matches. In the Bundesliga, Leipzig currently has only six points, and in the UEFA Champions League, they recently suffered a clear 1-4 defeat against Como 1907.
Should the Bundesliga restart not go well and Leipzig continue to show weak performances in the Champions League, a separation could occur according to "Sky". In this event, those in charge are apparently already scouting potential successors. One of them is said to be ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann Led Leipzig to CL Semi-Finals
The 39-year-old was already coach at Cottaweg between 2019 and 2021, before moving to FC Bayern.
With Leipzig, Nagelsmann notably reached the Champions League semi-finals and led the club to a runner-up finish. In his 95 games as Leipzig coach, he averaged 1.94 points per match.
Nagelsmann reportedly still enjoys a good reputation within the RB cosmos. The former national team coach is currently without a club and thus generally available. However, according to "Sky", there are currently no concrete talks between him and RB Leipzig.
Difficult Fixture List for Demichelis
The rumors surrounding Nagelsmann further increase the pressure on Demichelis ahead of an already difficult schedule.
Next weekend, Leipzig hosts Eintracht Frankfurt, followed by a Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven.
After that, two real blockbusters are on the agenda: First, Leipzig visits FC Bayern Munich on October 17, and just four days later, the clash with Real Madrid awaits at the Santiago Bernabéu.
