Ilsanker backs Leipzig coach
The former Leipzig player calls for patience with the new coach of the Saxons.
Martin Demichelis' start at RB Leipzig has been anything but ideal. After six points from four games, they currently sit in ninth place.
In the UEFA Champions League, they also suffered a 1-4 defeat against Como. Consequently, the coach is already under pressure.
The former Leipzig player and ex-ÖFB international Stefan Ilsanker now backs him in an interview with the "LVZ". "Yes, you have to," the Hallein native replies to the question of whether the new coach needs to be given time.
It takes time to implement one's ideas into the team, Ilsanker compares this to his time in Salzburg when Ralf Rangnick as sporting director and Roger Schmidt as head coach established a new philosophy.
The club also lost a player of "incredible quality" in Yan Diomande. Christoph Baumgartner, another key player, is out due to injury. Ilsanker calls the Austrian the "head of our ÖFB squad."
