"Very painful" - Marco Grüll injured
The in-form Werder legionnaire had to be subbed off injured after 67 minutes in Stuttgart. Here is what his head coach said after the match:
On the final matchday before the international break, injury woes seem to be striking several ÖFB international players.
After Carney Chukwuemeka was forced off injured after half an hour for Dortmund (all info >>>), Marco Grüll was also hit on Saturday evening.
In the 67th minute, the clearly struggling Bremen attacker had to come off. "It's a calf issue," SVW head coach Daniel Thioune explained in the post-match press conference.
Details not until Monday
"I don't know if it tightened up or if he took a knock," the coach didn't know further details after the game either, but emphasized: "It was very painful."
As Thioune explained to "Deichstube", an MRI is scheduled for Monday. "Basically, he has been dealing with calf issues for a little while now. We have to see to what extent something isn't right in the muscle or around it," the coach added.
However, Thioune does not expect Grüll to be sidelined long-term.
