Joao Gomes is moving from relegated Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers to Aston Villa. The new club of former LASK centre-back Modou Keba Cisse is putting 40 million euros as a base transfer fee on the table for the Brazilian international.

According to information from "Transfermarkt", the transfer fee can increase to up to 45 million euros through bonus payments.

Over 100 Appearances

João Gomes moved from Flamengo to the island in winter 2023 for around 19 million euros and subsequently played for the "Wolves". In a total of 116 appearances in the top English league, the midfielder recorded seven goals and three assists.

Gomes has also made 10 appearances for the "Seleção", but there was no place for him in Carlo Ancelotti's 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Joao Palhinha Also on the Radar

Joao Palhinha is also said to be a realistic transfer target for Aston Villa.

Following the departure of Youri Tielemans, the impending move of Morgan Rogers, and the serious knee injury to Amadou Onana, a void has opened up in Aston Villa's central midfield.

In addition to Manzambi and Gomes, Joao Palhinha could now also fill this gap. Although the 31-year-old Portuguese has returned to FC Bayern after the World Cup exit, he is said to have no future at Säbener Straße.
