Former Salzburg player on the verge of Bundesliga move

Patson Daka could soon continue his career in the German Bundesliga.

According to consistent media reports, the former FC Red Bull Salzburg striker is on the verge of a free transfer to Hamburger SV.

The Zambian international has been without a club since his contract expired at Leicester City and could strengthen the attack of the Bundesliga returnees.

Four Successful Years in Salzburg

Daka wore the Salzburg jersey between 2017 and 2021 and, during that time, developed into one of the most prolific attackers in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

In a total of 125 competitive matches, the now 27-year-old scored 68 goals. With the "Bulls," he won four league titles and the UNIQA ÖFB Cup three times. In the 2020/21 season, Daka also secured the Bundesliga's top scorer award with 27 goals, before moving to Leicester City for around 30 million euros.

He had also won the UEFA Youth League with Salzburg's U19 team in 2017.

Difficult Years at Leicester

However, his development in England did not go as hoped. Leicester were relegated from the Premier League in 2025 and a year later even had to drop into the third-tier League One.

After his contract expired, Daka is now available on a free transfer.

HSV Seeks Reinforcements in Attack

For Hamburger SV, the attacker would come at the right time. Following the departures of Robert Glatzel, Damion Downs, and Ransford Königsdörffer, the Bundesliga returnees have a need in attack.

HSV is currently preparing for the new season at their training camp in Ötztal. Should the transfer materialize, Daka would for the first time hunt for goals in the German Bundesliga.
