Clause for former Sturm player causes concern - Coach voices criticism
In Kaiserslautern, a clause for the new loan player drew criticism from fans, which the head coach cannot comprehend.
If 1. FC Kaiserslautern gets promoted to the German Bundesliga, there will be a new record transfer at Betzenberg.
The Styrian Andreas Schicker also negotiated the whole thing. According to media reports, Hoffenheim loan player Erencan Yardimci (24) would then move to Betzenberg for five million euros via a mandatory purchase clause. A loan fee of 500,000 euros is already due for the current season.
Many fans fear that the club might burn its fingers with the deal. If the 24-year-old flops and Kaiserslautern gets promoted, it would be an expensive investment.
Lieberknecht doesn't understand the discussions
Head coach Torsten Lieberknecht can't see the point of it. "I don't understand all the unrest surrounding this clause at all. It doesn't interest me in the slightest; I'm only interested in the lad. We notice that he simply wants to play football and perform at his best for FCK. All other discussions and speculations are of no interest; we don't waste any thoughts on them," the coach is quoted by "Bild".
The fans' concerns are unfounded. "We know what we have agreed upon, and that's fine. The lad wants to play football; he wanted to do that in Braunschweig, and he would have liked to do it in Hoffenheim. Now he's with us. He's not seen as a 'financial player' but as someone who will surely show that he enjoys wearing this FCK jersey," Lieberknecht clarifies.
In autumn 2024, Schicker brought Yardimci on loan from Hoffenheim to Sturm Graz. After his move towards Sinsheim, the Styrian recalled the Turk back to Germany in winter 2025.
However, he could never really establish himself under Christian Ilzer. He spent the past season as a loan player at Eintracht Braunschweig. His market value amounts to 1.8 million euros.
